Labor Day, Mr. Fulbrook’s Memorial Service

1.    Memorial Services for Frank Fulbrook:
The funeral arrangement for Frank Fulbrook is this Friday, September 6, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, between Broadway and Ferry Ave., 1739 Ferry Ave., Camden, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The ceremony will begin at 2:30pm. The public is encouraged to attend. He was a champion and community activist; he will always be remembered in our hearts and minds. 2.     In the spirit of Grass Roots Activism (ala Frank Fulbrook): Did you know that Labor Day has some roots to Camden NJ? Peter McGuire, founder of the AFL, who is one many consider the father of Labor Day, lived his retired years in Camden and is buried in neighboring Pennsauken.  Google Labor today to learn more.  In fact, McGuire Gardens in Camden is named after this labor leader.

3.   Cooper-Grant at the Riversharks!  Courtesy of Cooper’s Ferry, the Riversharks Suite is open to Cooper-Grant residents for free  tonight, Tuesday Sept 3rd 2013 at 7:00pm. 4.    The Camden City Garden Club’s Mobile Market  is on Tuesdays from 5-7pm at Friends and Penn St. in Cooper-Grant. Come out to pick up some fresh, inexpensive fruits and veggies as the Garden Club works to improve the city’s access to local fresh food.
